Hi! My name is Hadley. I'm a student at Jackson-Reed High School. I've been taking Chinese for 6 years now and love it more each year! My first teacher, Mr. Zhi, really instilled in me a love of languages, and I want to help other students access that. I've done my best to replicate his teaching style to help more kids fall in love with languages.
Once completed, you'll be able to talk about a variety of topics including clothing, weather, family, food, school, and activities, among others. bear with us, Chinese is a complicated language, and learning it via a computer is hard, but that's why we tried to create an option just for you.
Mr. Zhi was my Chinese teacher at Alice Deal Middle School for three years. This app is based off of his series of learning books, Duo Duo Chinese. Duo Duo Chinese is deisgned for foreign students preparing for SAT, HSK, or STAMP Chinese Tests. The format of the works matches the SAT, HSK, and STMP tests and is laid out appropriately for students who are familiar with the US Education system. The US Avant testing company statsitic shows over 70% of students using this material have passed STAMP Test Level III & IV, with some students reaching level V in both speaking and writing. This has largely surpassed the general Chinese scores acheived by 8th graders using other materials. What makes Duo Duo Chinese special is the large amount of vocabulary practice specifically designed to fit SAT, HSK, and STAMP Test format. Mr. Zhi has been a language teacher for other 30 years, 8 of those focused on teaching Chinese in US middle school and high school. He has also tutored a number of US students ranging from beginner to advanced Chinese level. Duo Duo Chinese is based on his real teaching experience in the US, and designed specifically for US students wishing to learn Chinese.
